Clean-up at apartments
ABOUT 50 people spent one recent Sunday morning taking part in a gotong-royong to spruce up the area surrounding the five blocks of Desa Mawar apartments in Bandar Baru Air Itam, Penang, in time for Chinese New Year.
Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai said his team would take turns joining local residents in various housing projects within his constituency to help them spruce up their respective areas before the different festive seasons.
Also taking part in the gotong-royong were personnel from the Paya Terubong fire station and voluntary fire squad, the Territorial Army’s Regiment 509, the Penang Municipal Council and the Thean Teik Village Development and Security Committee.
